Rode
Pulled out the long rope from the chain locker and ran out in the boathouse to get an idea of the length. Looks like >150′.

Tried my hand at splicing a rope to a thimble. Not so great on the first attempt but ok on the other end of the rope. Even that ugly splice will hold ok. It was hard because the rope is old and very stiff.


The idea here is that I run out the chain and then attach this rope using a shackle, release the bitter end, and carry on. The thimble will fit down the pipe so drawing it up should be the reverse. I like this better than splicing the rope into the chain as I am only using this as a backup – so not very often. I can also add it to the primary if I need more than its 150′ chain.

Transfer Pump
I can transfer fuel to the day tank again. Had to downsize the pump and lost the reversible option in the process. Calling it done – for now.
