Varnish
Surprising little to do in terms of freshening up the varnish. I have decided to get at least 1 more coat on entire exterior so it will still take about a week counting drying time.
Stove Flue
A new leak developed last season and quickly became one to deal with ASAP. I believe it was coming from the thru deck fitting for the stove flue. I removed the pipe and the flange. The flange came off easier than I expected so I think it may be where the leak is coming from.
Not a lot of soot in there. Pleased with that. I still get soot in the roof when I run it. That is unfortunate.
I used some high temp silicone to seal the flange. I noticed that I could put in longer screws so I used 1/2″ longer – and it was needed to secure it properly.
Nice job! I have to do exactly the same repair…badly leaking, I thought coming from the pipe cap, but it’s definitely the base – glad to see you made easy work of it.
Time will tell if it fixed the leak.
