Got the boat ready for an overnight (tomorrow). Mounted the new Pike Pole. This is shorter than the aluminum one but looks more appropriate for the boat. Time will tell if I need a longer one.
Wheel House Roof, Saloon Roof
Wheel House Roof The project is essentially done. Some lessons learned. Saloon Roof Completed the ‘freshen-up’ of the Saloon Roof.
Wheel House Roof, Pike Pole, Ladder
Wheel House Created a bunch of plugs from mahogany and teak using a drill press (purchased for this purpose). Tried the spruce rods and it does not look good – even with some stain to make it blend in. Pike Pole I received my pike pole end and got work creating a new pike pole….
Wheel House Roof
Had some help for most of the day. We managed to install/reinstall all the new/old trim around the wheel house roof. It still needs plugs, some tweaking, and finish. I decided to not get creative with trying to colour match the different woods as it looks pretty good the way it is. The roof still…
Teak Trim, Varnish
Teak Trim The new teak trim arrived. The teak looks awesome and the corners are very nearly perfect – just a little tweaking needed. I put a coat of varnish on the hand rail (I had removed and stripped) and the new teak. I was surprised to find that the straight bits of the hand…
Teak Trim, MidDeck
Teak Trim Good news – the new teak trim has finally shipped! Well I guess it shipped on Friday. Should be here this week. MidDeck I was surprised to find that I could hang the tender aside the boat while in the boathouse. This allowed me to get into some freshening up of the MidDeck….
Prop Walk
Improved the power by putting all in a super sized battery box. This includes the; battery, reversing solenoid, wireless receiver, breaker, and a push/pull switch to control power to the system. Installed this into a lazarette. I could put a 2 wire socket into the transom but avoiding drilling a hole into the transom by…
Prop Walk
Mounted the prototype to the transom for testing. Very temporary. The test went well. Definitely noticed that there is less thrust in reverse (to port) but the main thing is that there is enough forward thrust (to starboard) to counter the prop walk – and there is. Success! Now I need to find a convenient…
Prop Walk, Tender Mount
Connected and tested the wireless controller/receiver. I used one of the three pike pole mounts for a tender mount. This solved the problem of the bow of the tender resting on the roof and wearing at the canvas. I also ordered a brass pike pole end. I will combine this with a dressed up wooden…
Prop Walk
Some progress on addressing prop walk for backing up (and out) of the marina.
