Added a full gallon of Interlux Brightside (‘white’ that I happened to have left over from last spring) as the first coat of paint.
It looked pretty good. I let it dry for a few days. I was expecting it to shrink by 5 to 10 percent. I returned to put some Interlux Brightside (off-white) and found that the canvas actually became less tight – even a bit loose. Very disappointing as this caused some wrinkles and not under the solar panels either. Was the canvas pre-shrunk?
I know that we pulled it tighter (as tight as two guys could) on the aft area (because we had to) and this (given the lack of shrinking) seems to have made a difference. Carried on with the additional paint as there did not seem to be any way to get rid of the wrinkles now that the first coat of paint was dry. I used up about 1 1/2 of a quart. I used the remainder to put a quick coat on the aft roof.
