Trim

Posted on April 4, 2022 by admin

I have been removing trim – a little bit every day. I was able to remove the half-round along the back of the wheel house with little problem. It was nailed on with heavy finishing nails.

I started to remove the hand rail by removing the plugs and then removing the screws but only a couple of screws came out – the remainder must have been glued in? I was starting to damage the trim with attempts. For example; I tried an impact driver but I twisted the bit and it jumped.

So I decided on a different approach – just pry it up/off. The idea is to pry it up just so I can get a reciprocating saw in there to cut the nails and screws – to limit damage to roof T&G.

The complicating factor is that it is also fastened to the roof using a strip of metal (lead like material) and hundreds of tacks.
