Received the new canvas. The new stuff looks about the same as the old stuff. So the old stuff was probably 12oz.

Picking away at the re-canvas project. I have counted 12 patches. The patches are the most challenging as they are tacked on so well. I would have been adding even more patches but I think the re-canvas project is definitely the way to go. Wood looks good – even if it is full of (mostly) little holes from past work. No felt so I am not going to install new stuff with felt.

I have decided that it is best to remove the trim and install the new canvas over all edges – not just the back. This makes the project much more ‘invasive’ so a difficult decision – but the right one. I will use a power stapler to ‘tack’ down the canvas. I have to order it so that will not happen for about 2 weeks. I think by then the temps will be good enough for paint. So timing is about right.
The cost for this project is all in the labour. Canvas was about $50 plus shipping for example. Total material cost very likely to be less than $300. So I may pay to bring someone in to help for trim removal and reinstall.
