Shore Power
I received the power cable which will allow me to use my little generator for shore power. The question now is will the boat ask too much of the little generator (Honda 2000w)? Will see.

GPS
I attempted to wire the VHF to the chart plotter – to provide GPS to the chart plotter. No joy so far. Part of the problem is that the VHF is ‘Standard Horizon’ and the chart plotter is ‘Furuno’. So they have a slightly different approach to the wiring of the NMEA0183. Another part of the problem is that most people (it would seem) are interested in connecting a GPS antenna to these devices – I am not.
So I took a break and decided to remove the chart plotter and test its GPS outside of the boat (and boathouse). I already tried it out of the boathouse so this was more about being outside of the boat.

The chart plotter, for the first time, had a working GPS (a weak one). My current theory is that the chart plotter has a weak GPS antenna and this may be blocked by the wheel house roof (probable lead paint up there). So I am disappointed that the Furuno chart plotter GPS does not work when all other GPS devices next to it work fine. This will have me circling back to that VHF to chart plotter NMEA0183 connection.
Good morning. I want to purchase a Honda 2000w for my boat as well. Is there a place on the Coast that has them in stock? I would buy one here and bring it with me, but that risks customs issues and crossing the border is already a pain.
I think i bought it at Coastline Powersports. I think they are more into Yamaha now. This Honda generator is easily the best I have ever owned.
