Engine Harness, Dash

Posted on February 1, 2022February 1, 2022 by admin

Engine Harness

I installed new wire for engine shutoff. This has been done all the way to the dash. I installed new sensor wire for; RPM, TEMP, and OIL PRESSURE but I have yet to put the Deutsch connectors on them so they do not run ‘to the boat’ yet.

Dash

The plan was to use a switch I ordered for engine start/run/off but it turns out I need a switch like this but one that does NOT provide voltage in the Run stage. I modified the switch but it still did not work for this application. I have to order a new switch and use the rocker/label from this one. In the meantime I am using a switch typically used for raising and lowering an anchor. The problem with this is that the switch is not ‘momentary’.

I can use the rocker but not the underlying switch

So I can start and stop the engine from the dash but I have to enable battery banks from the RBS manual switch. I decided to run wire for the Start RBS so I can ‘close up’ the dash (including panels in the forward berth). I have done this but I still have to connect the other ends.

all wiring in place – just need a better Start/Stop switch (coming)
more work to do in here
I can now return this bit of ceiling to its normal state

My hands got seriously greased up while running wire around the engine. I turned the water pump on so I could get some of it off and I noticed that the water pressure was maintained without the pump over the last few months – nice!

So I am pretty much at the point where some good weather and I am out for an over-nighter – happy days.

Now I understand why I haven’t seen any posting from you for awhile, you have been very busy. Looks great! Have a good over nighter.
