Snow on the roof of the boathouse has me worried. Lost more free board in the snow fall that came down last night. For the second time in a week I had to get the snow off of the roof. I have blue plastic barrels (standing vertical) under the original Styrofoam. These barrels were added at some point to compensate for deteriorated existing flotation. The big unknown is how much free board I can lose before the tops of the barrels are under water and what would happen in such a case.
I made an urgent call for help yesterday to get the snow removed from my boathouse as well.
Hopefully the accumulating snow is done and warmer temps will return next week. It is difficult to be so far away (Arizona) and have to deal with the consequences of the severe weather. Power to my place was off for over 40 hours starting Christmas morning … thankfully the batteries held up and bilge pumps continued to work.
The latest is that we may get another inch of snow (tomorrow)… hopefully that is it. Glad to hear that you have someone who can check your place/boat as needed. Power outages are common in winter and then, I guess, occasionally a big snow fall.
