Shore Power, Bilge

Posted on December 13, 2021December 13, 2021 by admin

Shore Power

Connected the breaker box and put fuses in/tested all of the connected 12v fixtures. I labeled the breakers with labels that best matched the breaker but each breaker leads to a D-Box which has other fixtures connected so I plan to put details on paper on the inside of the door.

I blew a few fuses as I was trying to put in the lowest possible – went up a ‘notch’ on those and all was fine.

Super nice to have the proper lighting in there – it totally brings up the space to another level.

Reviewed the 120v wiring and, with all looking good, turned on the inverter. It was stuck in ‘searching’ mode so I went into setup and turned that off. Tested the 120v receptacles and all is well. Turned the charger on and plugged into shore power. Battery voltage jumped immediately – all working as expected.

I thought that the two lights on the back wall of the wheel house were running off of 120v – but this turned out to be incorrect. I think I know where the starboard wires run but the port is a complete mystery at this point. I have to find them and route to its D-Box. In the meantime; they do not work.

Next? I have to change power for the bilge pumps to make closer to the batteries. I have to prepare for the mechanic (scheduled for the 15th). I want to have a temp engine start/stop panel ready and get some power into the Sea Gauge with the hope of getting a couple of sensors (RPM and engine temp) connected to it so I can run the boat. I can add more sensors after I get the boat running again.

Woot! Woot!

Bilge

It has been a long time since I have heard a bilge pump kick-off. I know they work and the bilge is not filling up. I guess ingress has slowed – a lot. Nice!

I completely disconnected the wiring harness for the engine. Some of it is for starting/stopping the engine and some of it is for sensors. It is a primitive harness so I could probably figure it all out but it will go a lot smoother with an expert mechanic. The minimum goal is to be able start/stop the engine with a temp switch panel (still waiting for the switch panel from an outfit in South Carolina) and to connect the RPM and engine temp sensors to the SeaGauge.
