I have been finding a lot of small stuff to tend to. Put together – well its starting to feel like I am at the start of a refit.
The engine is the main thing but I am not replacing that now. The next thing is the water in the bilge. I have not found the source but I am putting that to the ‘side’ for now. I want this sorted by the time the boat completes its haul-out next spring.
So this has me focused on electrical (mostly just the 12v stuff). I have been removing fixtures which are old and not ‘period correct’ – or are not worth the sacrifice in safety/functionality. Some I will replace but most just have to go. The idea is to simplify the systems on the boat while bringing things up-to-date. The focus should be on the Shertzer Bros original build and not modern fixtures.
The end-game is the following;
- Radar: Furuno DRS4W
- Multi Function Display: Furuno GP-1971F
- Auto Pilot: Furuno NAVpilot-300 (or none at all)
The dash will have the engine controls but will be simplified.
The new MFD/AutoPilot and switches will be hidden in the compartment which used to house the Wood Freeman compass. They will only be visible when operating the boat.
